Reinventing The Wheel (These Teeth are Made for Biting)

2018

46 x 13 x 8 inches (117 x 32 x 19 cm)
concrete, copper, epoxy, lead, rust paint and graphite

This project developed from a group of protruding bricks next to the window that hovers above the placed sculpture. Perhaps if in some future, post-apocalyptic environment, one question posed by the artist is how we “start from scratch” with a simple form such as the wheel. The object eludes from one logical narrative, merg- ing from one material into another, with grips that are molded after the artists own hands (and covered in lead).
